Good Shepherd Church is a supporting member of PRISM (People Responding in Social Ministry). PRISM provides emergency and supportive services to people in the Northwest suburban communities of Plymouth, New Hope, Crystal, Robbinsdale and Golden Valley. The focus of PRISM is to encourage self-sufficiency. Member churches, civic organizations, foundations, city governments, area businesses and individuals fund PRISM.
The emergency food shelf may be accessed by clients through an intake process. The food shelf is a grocery-style food assistance program where people can choose their own 5-7 day supply of fresh and packaged food and personal hygiene items.
PRISM has limited funds to address immediate needs such as food, shelter and clothing. PRISM provides ongoing help for families working towards stability and self-sufficiency by providing them with emotional support, community resources and help with goal setting and problem solving. PRISM also provides extra assistance through additional programs such as employment, school supplies, birthdays and holiday toys.
Volunteers are key people at PRISM. Volunteers are needed in the capacity of receptionists and to help in the food shelf and clothing boutique. Our Parish PRISM liaison is Lisa Merry.
PRISM's phone number is 763-529-1350 and they are located at 1220 Zane Avenue North in Golden Valley. You can also visit their website at www.prismmpls.org.
