Becoming Catholic & Adult Confirmation

Thinking about becoming Catholic, or just want to learn about Catholicism?

The Catholic Church rejoices every time a person begins the process to become a Catholic. At Good Shepherd, we welcome you and are here to help answer your questions. Becoming a Catholic is one of the deepest and most joyful experiences a person can undertake.

A person is said to be fully initiated in the Catholic Church when s/he has received the three sacraments of Christian initiation: Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist. This is achieved through a process of preparation. We strive to look at preparation as a process rather than a class. Through scripture, readings, videos, discussion and sharing about core Church teachings and their applications to our lives, participants are invited to grow more deeply in their faith and discern if joining the Catholic Church or completing one's initiation into the Church is what they desire.

When you are ready to learn more, we will talk through what your preparation will look like. When possible, we seek to have a small group format and work to meet 3 times per month. For most people, the process typically takes around one year, but it is different for each person.
