Good Shepherd Weekend 2020

GOOD SHEPHERD WEEKEND FESTIVITIES

MAY 1 - MAY 3, 2020

Next Sunday, May 3, is the Fourth Sunday of Easter, which is known as Good Shepherd Sunday. We celebrate this Sunday as our parish’s feast day. In the normal course of events, we celebrate with 40 Hours of Eucharistic Adoration, some special Masses, and Solemn Vespers. This year is not normal. But we’re going to do our best to celebrate well.

We will begin on Friday, May 1, with the opportunity for you to pick up a Good Shepherd Sunday bag filled with some goodies and prayer resources, and to receive a blessing. That will happen from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the parking lot. Come on by during that window, and we’ll safely hand you a bag for your household and Father Marquard will impart a blessing upon everyone in your vehicle. If you come between 4:30 and 6:30, you can make a donation to PRISM with the Knights of Columbus. They are looking for flour, sugar, cooking oil, and more. At 7 p.m., we will livestream our First Friday Night of Prayer, which will include praise and worship music and praying the Litany of the Sacred Heart.

At 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 2, we will livestream a Votive Mass of the Most Holy Eucharist celebrated by Bishop Andrew Cozzens. Later that day, we will have four (not 40) hours of Eucharistic Adoration in the church. Ideally, we’ll have 10 people adoring the whole time. Sign up for 30 or 60 minutes here

On May 3, Good Shepherd Sunday, Archbishop Bernard Hebda will be here for the livestream our 10:30 a.m. Mass. That’s right, two bishops in one weekend! We will close out our celebration with another parking lot holy hour with Eucharistic Adoration and Benediction. The last one was so amazing and edifying that we wanted to do another.

Throughout the weekend, we will be posting various prayers and litanies and tutorials to our social media sites. We are hopeful that you will join us both on-site and online for these events. Please check our website or call the parish office for updated information.
