Good Shepherd Befrienders

Befrienders are parishioners who receive training and supervision to visit people in the parish who are living in their own homes, nursing homes or assisted care facilities. Befrienders offer spiritual and emotional help, a listening ear and take confidentiality very seriously. Most of all, they care.

Occasionally people are in a recovery period because of surgery, illness or a recent loss. Some may need assistance with errands, a ride to church, the doctor, communion visit, or just a little company during a lonely time. If you are experiencing a time of special need or know of a parishioner who could use assistance of this kind, please call the Parish Office and let us know exactly how a Befriender could help.

Befrienders are also responsible for the religious care of Catholics in two nursing homes: Texas Terrace and Westwood in St. Louis Park. Volunteers from the parish help to bring patients to the rosary and communion services.

If you are interested in joining the Befrienders Ministry, please contact the parish office at 763-544-0416.
